Bheem Nagar is a District in the North Indian state of Uttar Pradesh .Old name is Sambhal.sambhal is an ancient settlement that was also important during the period of Muslim rule and was one of Sikandar Lodi ’s provincial capitals in the late 15th and early 16th centuries. It's location near a rail terminus, makes it an important trade center for agricultural produce. Its industries include sugar refining, hand-loom weaving, and calico printing. The city is the scene of annual Muslim and Hindu fairs.[1] As of 2011 Indian census,[2] Sambhal had a population of 600,000 with 53% males and 47% females. Sambhal has a literacy rate of 65%, higher than the national average of 59.5%. Male literacy rate is 78%, and the female literacy rate is 42%. In the late 12th century, Sambhal was the capital of Prithviraj Chauhan, the King of Hindu Kshatriya Chauhan (Chauhamana) dynasty, until he changed his capital to Delhi and Ajmer. In the late 15th and early 16th centuries, the second ruler of the Afghan Lodi Dynasty, Sikandar Lodi made Sambhal one of his provincial capitals.[3] During the reign of the third Mughal Emperor, Akbar, Sambhal was a 'Sarkar' in the 'Subah' of Delhi and had a brick fort.[4] Sambhal has one of the Babri Mosques constructed by the first Mughal Emperor, Babur. Sambhal is one of the biggest markets for Menthol oil which is obtained from the pipermint(mentha) plant. menthol It is also famous for animal bone and horn carvings and handicrafts. Bone and Horn artistic goods include combs, pen-holders, boxes and cups. It also boasts of Art metal ware handicraft units and imitation jewelery units.[6] Sambhal is known for its Hakims, (Greek/Unani Medicine practitioners) and Unani medicines, with Janta Dardmand Dawakhana, being one of the country's largest brands located in the city. The Famous markets in sambhal are Suraj Plaza, Haryali Bazar, Raza Market, Parchaie Market etc. One of the major cultural and historical attractions of Sambhal is the "Chakki Ka Paat", a grain grinder made of stone and used by hand, which hangs at a height of around 15 meters from the ground. It is said that an Acrobat (called 'nat' in the local language) hung this heavy piece of stone after jumping from the ground without using any support other than himself. Another famous attraction is the legendary tomb of two love-birds called "Tota-Myna Ki Kabr", Other attractions include Babri Masjid, Jama Masjid of Court which was built by Sikandar Lodhi, and the Ashiq public library which houses about 27,000 books. Education in Bhimnagar (Sambhal) district is on peak, there are people who cut there daily needs in order to put there children's in good school. Earlier there were parents who thought that their kids will help them in doing there work whether its related to agriculture or something else, but now due to increased focus of Indian government on compulsory education upto the age of 14 the odds have changed. There are schools coming up with hostel facilities, several new colleges are being built for providing good higher education in the area, and thus have helped villages like Hajibeda, Singhpur, Chitavali, areas adjoining Nagli and Sambhal to produce Doctors, Engineers, Entrepreneurs in growing India.
